The Peanut Butter Falcon

The Peanut Butter Falcon

2019

"About a couple of old souls that long ago got left behind somewhere on this godforsaken rock where wild, wild flowers used to grow... This was back when Shia LaBeouf had us fooled that this woe is me act was just for the screen and in real life he was pretty well adjusted and a decent guy. Weirdly enough The Peanut Butter Falcon has the colors and themes of Mud with hints of early days Terrence Malick in it while having the foundations of Hunt for The Wilderpeople, The Kings of Summer, Brigsby Bear and Leave No Trace. A movie that can make your eyes well up while simultaneously brings a smile is already a rarefied art and like all rare things it gets a bit hard to describe the whole thing in fear that it might lose something in transcription. A rare one that goes beyond the usual disability schtick by showing a human first and foremost. The Peanut Butter Falcon's rarity lies in its philosophy which out of respect to brevity could be summarised as- It's a man's man story. All of humanity has been lost since the dawn of time but we men are lost in our unique ways and this film shows where we might find exactly that. Sometimes all it takes is to make a fire, paint your face and run around half-naked screaming till your lungs are out of air just so you could get in touch with your masculine side"
