Even God wouldn't forgive this time…… I think the time has come for Nicolas Winding Refn to dial it way back down the neon bedazzling and the pretentious meta commentary as themes and go back to his Pusher-Bronson-Drive days starring brooding protagonists. I like my sci-fis hover between the spectrum of philosophy and mind-bending techy tech tech high-concept; between Kubrick and Tarkovsky style paintings and Nolan's puzzles. Between what and how, not this Von Trier style Jungian DMT-induced nightmarish netherworld as science fiction. And Sophie Thatcher should go beyond this weird traumatized girl syndrome in the speculative branch of make-believe.
