Anvita Dutt’s Bulbbul gets hamstrung by failing to look beyond the trappings of romance-drama and look over deeper themes to employ feminine rage through the use of supernatural horror grimoire. Contrived production design, manufactured atmospheric spookiness and artificial lighting marred this grim, dark (both literally and thematically) witchy tale in which the only rays of sunshine were Tripti Dimri who remained underutilized due to a ham-fisted script and Amit Trivedi’s hauntingly melancholic music.
