"Am I clinically and certifiably insane that I liked this movie about as much as I cared for Superman!!! I mean it's not that high a benchmark to begin with if we're comparing one to Superman in the first place. Continuing his streak of terrible exposition James Gunn's new DC product Supergirl directed by Craig Gillespie no less is like your least favorite candy made of palm oil, it even lacks the flavors as trade-offs for which early onset diabetes might even be worth the risk. The expositional elements through forced superficially manufactured dialogues out of nowhere which one can experience in all his DCU projects starting from The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker all the way to Superman still continues right off the bat from the beginning of this one. It is contrived, out of place and unwarranted. The Gen Z existential angst stemming from the teachings of Albert Camus, David Benatar and Emil Cioran, who am I kidding they haven't read any of those, rather the source of this woe-is-me disposition and nonchalant attitude is out there in the open, the making of the surroundings, the purposelessness (thanks to us), that part of Supergirl I dig very much but every other aspect of this movie is just ponderous and intolerable. I get it that Gunn has a special soft spot for animals, freaky creatures and pets in his heart, but, come on! This is getting too repetitive. Like Maths repetitive. This harem fetish although is fairly recent. The villain is a villain just for the sake of it. At least, in a first of its kind, a James Gunn movie doesn't have daddy issue written in the script. P.S.- Gotta hand it to Gunn's ever present customary flash back scenes. That was somewhat good in this one. Excuse me for the chosen words, India is just past a successful Gen Z agitation. Kind of a big momentous one. So, the hangover is still there."
