"Mexican psychological drama. Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's magic sparked in the early days. First installment in the critically acclaimed Death Trilogy. Later it transformed into 21 Grams starring Sean Penn, Naomi Watts and Benicio Del Toro and Babel starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. Same with this movie but better with the shaky camera close to the movements, interwoven complex stories intermingled with character development. I went into hoping for a performance by Gael Garcia but got amazed by the performance of Emilio Echevarria. Hyperlink narrative style of cinema structure along with social commentary about animal cruelty and crime and trauma. Must watch."
Angel Heart
"Scary but not in a typical horror kind of way. Micky Rourke was an ever-running ever-chasing nightmare and the good kind. Goes on to solidify my idea that given a 10 minutes screening time sharing the stage with Robert De Niro can do wonders. De Niro is stylish and scary. Mind bending movie with religious overtone and not for everyone. Very clever and mind-bending."
The Black Dahlia
"A caricature of a tragedy. One of the worst movies I have watched in my entire life and that too by a legendary director who lost his touch after the 20th century. Brian De Palma. Even acclaimed actresses like Scarlet Johansson and Hillary Swank's roles are cartoonish. Strongly recommending against."
